Project Runway Season 9 Episode 5

The Challenge: In teams of three, the designers must create three sportswear garments that can be worn with Heidi Klum’s New Balance sneakers.

Guest Judge: Erin Wasson (Model)

Interesting Observations:

  • Thank you Cecilia for publicly admitting that you don’t want to be there!
  • Josh M. is Mr. At-ti-tude!
  • Bert’s giddyness at the other designer’s failures is rather unprofessional and quite annoying to watch. It makes him very unlikable.
  • Blogging Project Runway made a great observation: “Anya designed the winning dress and Becky sewed it – but Josh won? Huh? ” Exactly! I was confused too!

Best Collection: Team Viktor (Viktor [Challenge Winner #1], Josh C., and Olivier) – Viktor’s jacket was ah-ma-zing and his dress was cute! I love Josh C.’s pants! Olivier should have let the long skirt idea go, especially since it doesn’t mesh well with the tough leather idea… but it’s not the worst I’ve seen.

Worst Collection: Team Anthony (Anthony, Laura, and Bert) – Bert’s design, even though more office chic than athletic, was the only wearable thing out of the whole collection. The other outfits were a mess!

Like: Team Bryce (Bryce, Kimberly, and Danielle) – I like the cohesiveness of the collection. Bryce’s dress was just a bit short for my taste, but I did like the silhoutte and the snap detail down the side. I liked Kimberly’s skirt. Danielle’s jacket was cute, but the chiffon fabric… I don’t know about that. I agree with Michael Kors, it’s not sportswear.

In-Between: Team Joshua M. (Josh M. [Challenge Winner #2], Becky, and Anya) – Simple designs, a bit generic. Clearly no teamwork went into the collection because Becky’s trademark style is nowhere to be found. Maybe if there was a little bit of Becky flair thrown into the mix it would have worked out better.

I was surprised by who went home this week. Wasn’t expecting them to go at all. So which collection do you think was the best/worst?
